The Guardian is dedicated to those who died in Afghanistan. A baying wolf statue carved in local white marble was donated by Paul E. Shier, a local carver and sits atop a granite base. Its unveiling on May 10, 2007, was hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Tweed Branch No. 428 and the Municipality of Tweed.

The Tweed Cenotaph is also located here.

This memorial is erected to honour
Canada's soldiers who gave their lives in
the service of peace in Afghanistan

The sculpture of "The Guardian"
was rendered by Paul E. Shier
who generously presented it to the
Municipality of Tweed to stand as a
reminder to all Canadians of the
sacrifice made by members
of the Canadian Forces.
