Captain Hervé Murray Grant is remembered on this brass Memorial Tablet. It was unveiled on May 1st, 1921 in memory of Upper Canada College students who died on active service during the First World War. Upper Canada College is located in Toronto, Ontario.

Born 29 August 1891, eldest son of William Shearer Grant and Mary Evelyn (Mingaye) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He died of wounds at age 26, on October 28, 1917, two days after Lt-Gen Sir Arthur Currie's Canadian Corps began the attack for Passchendaele, Belgium. By November 7, having endured appalling conditions and having suffered over 15,000 dead and wounded, the Canadians seized Passchendaele. Captain H.M. Grant's grave is in Lijssnthoek Cemetary on the outskirts of Poperinge, just west of Ypres, Belgium. Near him in the region that same week was his younger brother from Winnipeg, William Mingaye Grant, then age 21 (1896-1989), who married Wilma Emilie (Weir) and was the father of four sons, James Mingaye Grant, Gordon Weir Grant, Robert Murray Grant and Ian van Felson Grant.

The Parish of St Luke in Winnipeg erected this memorial. It was unveiled in St Luke in around 1919 and is dedicated to Capt Hervé Murray Grant M.C. killed in action during the Great War. This Cross is the original cross from his grave from Lijssenthoek cemetery, Passchendaele, Flanders.

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE DE LIJSSENTHOEK Belgique
Le cimetière militaire de Lijssenthoek est situé à environ 12 kilomètres à l'ouest du cimetière municipal d'Ypres, sur la Boescheepseweg, une route qui part de la route N308 reliant Ypres à Poperinge.
À partir du centre-ville d'Ypres, rendez-vous sur la Poperingseweg par la Elverdingsestraat en passant au-dessus de deux petits carrefours giratoires sur la J. Capronstraat. La Poperingseweg est le prolongement de la J. Capronstraat et débute après un important passage à niveau. En arrivant à Poperinge, tournez à gauche sur la route périphérique de Poperinge (R33).
Suivez cette route et tournez à gauche à l'intersection avec la route N38, la Frans Vlaanderenweg. Parcourez 800 mètres sur la route N38 et tournez à gauche sur la Lenestraat. Tournez tout de suite après à droite, sur la Boescheepseweg. Le cimetière se trouve à 2 kilomètre du côté droit de cette route.
