The Honourable Jill McKnight, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence

Jill McKnight

The Minister of Veterans Affairs is responsible for the Veterans Affairs Portfolio in the Government of Canada. This Portfolio consists of:

  • the Department of Veterans Affairs, which reports to the Minister of Veterans Affairs;
  • the Veterans Review and Appeal Board, which reports to Parliament through the Minister of Veterans Affairs; and
  • the Veterans Ombudsman, which also reports to Parliament through the Minister of Veterans Affairs.

The Honourable Jill McKnight was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Delta in 2025.

Prior to entering politics, Minister McKnight was a small business owner for over 20 years. She later served as Executive Director for the Delta Chamber of Commerce, where she advocated for innovative solutions to support local businesses and residents through economic challenges.

Minister McKnight is a long-time community volunteer and has served for five years as the President of the Ladner Business Association. She has also supported a range of local causes, including the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation, the B.C. Cancer Foundation, and Dress for Success.

In recognition of her service, Minister McKnight has received several honours, including the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Delta Chamber of Commerce in 2019.

Minister McKnight holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Business from the University of Victoria. She is a life-long resident of Delta and a proud aunt to her niece and nephew.
