Son of Donat Chevrier and Elizabeth Dicaire, of Cornwall, Ontario. Brother of aviator Michael Leo Chevrier, 21 years old in March 1945, of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He survived the war.

He served in Canada and Great Britain. He had 931 days of service, including 276 overseas.

His Halifax bomber was shot down by a German night fighter returning from an air raid on Kamen, Germany.
