Burial/memorial information
Baptized Joseph-Philippe-Louis-Philias Lacombe. Son of Philias Lacombe and Arthémise Giguère (deceased in 1908), of Montréal, Québec. He had declared that he was born in 1896 when he enlisted and he named his half-sister Alphéda Trépanier (wife of Victor Dubois) as his closest relative.
Before his marriage to Philias Lacombe, Arthémise Giguère was the widow of Odilon Trépanier and had three children from this union. Philippe Lacombe was therefore also the half-brother of Odilon Trépanier Jr. (regimental number 61065) with whom he enlisted the same day in the 22nd Battalion.
The 22nd was on its very first tour of the trench and Philippe had the curiosity to look over the parapet. This mistake proved fatal and he was shot in the head by a German sniper.
