Search for the fallen

Frequently asked questions

I am not sure which Book they are commemorated in; how can I find them?
You can start your search without any Books pre-filtered.

I am looking for the fallen based on their date of death. How would I do I do that?
You can use the advanced search of the Canadian Virtual War Memorial (CVWM). Each record of the fallen in the CVWM identifies which of the eight Books of Remembrance they are commemorated in, and on which page their name is found.

How are names added, and how can corrections be made?
The Books of Remembrance are updated on occasion as errors and omissions are identified and brought to the attention of Veterans Affairs Canada for verification and action. Unlike the other Books, the Seventh Book, In the Service of Canada, is a living document with names being added on an ongoing basis.

I can’t find my loved one in the Books. Who can I contact?
For help finding a name in the Books of Remembrance or to inquire about adding an individual’s name, please contact Veterans Affairs Canada by email at books-livres@veterans.gc.ca.
