The New Toronto Cenotaph, a 7.5 meter granite memorial, was donated by the community and located at Mimico Town Hall at 185 Fifth Street. In 1983, it was relocated to 150 Eighth Street, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3. When the legion property was sold in October 2020, the cenotaph was relocated to its current location in Colonel Samuel Smith Park. Petrogold Inc. bought the legion property and, understanding the importance of the cenotaph to the community, not only worked with the legion to move it, but paid for its relocation.

The cenotaph was rededicated on 10 November 2020. In May of 2021, inscriptions for Afghanistan and Peacekeeping were added.
