The War Memorial in Coronation Park was erected in 1928. The monument is made of granite, with a bronze sword in memory of Veterans killed in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Relatives of the deceased were given the opportunity to choose the site.
It was unveiled during the "Old Boys" celebrations of 1928. Father L.P. Lowry, former Chaplain of the Canadian Mounted Rifles, gave the opening address. Reverend E.S. McKegney gave the opening prayer and Col. F.A. Lister, D.S.O.A.A.Q.M.G.M.D., performed the unveiling followed by the "LAST POST". The Middlesex Light Infantry led a parade to the local cemetery where several thousands paid tribute to their heroes.
The local Horticultural Society planted trees around the base. The municipality gathers around the memorial every Armistice Day and pays tribute to these fallen heroes, led by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #341, Parkhill.
