Son of Douglas Campbell and Elizabeth Smith Reid, of Rush Lake, Saskatchewan.

He died in a plane crash at sea. His body was recovered by HMS Lorna Doone, who buried him at sea off Harwich, England.

He had 560 days of service, including 228 overseas.
