Lyon, Kenneth Brogden - Flying Officer. Born 26th January, 1918, at Londesboro, Ont. Educated at Blyth Public and Continuation School, and Clinton Collegiate Institute. Entered the service of the Bank 11th January, 1937. Served at branches in Ontario. Enlisted 20th June, 1942, from Forest in R.C.A.F. Pilot Officer in April, 1943; Flying Officer in January, 1944. Trained at Toronto, Camp Borden, Belleville and Malton, Ont. Overseas in June, 1943. Served in Italy and Eastern Europe. Reported missing on operational flight from Italy to bomb oil refinery in Bohemia on night of 2l/22 July, 1944. The aircraft crashed and exploded in Moravia and the body of only one of the crew was identified and buried. Officially presumed dead in August, 1945. <br><i>From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.</i> -
