Enlisted on 30 October 1941 under the National Resources Mobilization Act of 1940, he underwent training in Joliette, Quebec, until 23 January 1942, regimental number E-77562. He was enrolled on 23 January 1942 in Joliette and immediately sent to Camp Valcartier where he was integrated into the 20th Field Ambulance of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, regimental number D-94145. Assigned to the Quebec Citadel, he was incorporated into the 1st Battalion of the Quebec Voltigeurs. On 21 July 1943, he embarked for Great Britain, arriving on the 28th. Transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment on 13 September 1943, he immediately left for Italy, where he landed on the 24th and joined the 4th Battalion on 2 November. He was reported missing in action on 5 March 1944 in the San Nicolas village area, and on 22 November was presumed killed in action. He had 773 days' service, 228 of them overseas.
