Son of John and Melissa J. Pickard, of Hamilton, Ontario. Flying Officer Pickard was a member of the Caterpillar Club. Membership of the club was given to people whose lives had been saved by parachutes made by the Irving Air Chute Company. This action saved the life of Flying Officer Pickard on 15 September 1942.
