Son of William Maud and Lillian Hood. Raised by his aunt, Mrs. Mary Everson, Brampton, Ontario. Brother of Pte Thomas Edward Hood, killed in action at Dieppe and Flight Lieutenant William John(Jack), Royal Air Force Transport Command, Arthur and Annie Evelyn. He served in Canada from 19 September 1939 to 10 October 1940, in the United Kingdom from 11 June 1940 until 18 August 1942.
