Burial/memorial information
After working as a pilot in the merchant navy, he enlisted in the Royal 22e Régiment. He arrived in Glasgow, Scotland, on 1 August 1940. He embarked for England on 15 June 1943 to take part in the Allied landings in Sicily on 10 July. He was killed in action on the 27th during an assault on Mount Scapello near Catenanuaova. He was buried on Mount Santa Maria before being exhumed and reburied in Agira cemetery, Sicily. He had 1,162 days' service, including 1,107 overseas.
