Son of Jean Boulianne and Lydia Gilbert from Chicoutimi, Québec.

He previously served with the Régiment du Saguenay from 26 June 1937 to 13 September 1939. Assigned to B Company of the Royal 22e Régiment, he took part in the Allied landings in Sicily on 10 July 1943. He arrived in Italy on 3 September and was killed in action on 9 October 1943 in the hills of Jelsi, Italy. He was buried on the 10th by the roadside in Gambatesa. He was exhumed and reburied at the Moro River Cemetery in Ortona, Italy. He had 1,487 days of service, including 1,400 days overseas.
