Enrolled in the Régiment de Châteauguay (MG), Company A - NPAM - regimental number 869, he was first transferred to the Fusiliers Mont-Royal, regimental number D-62807, on 20 July at Camp Valcartier, Québec. He arrived in Gourock, Scotland, on 1 March 1941. On 1 June 1943, he was transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment and sent to the Mediterranean. He landed in Sicily on 11 July 1943, and in Italy on 3 Septembe. He was killed in action during an assault to seize the crossroads north-east of Casa Berardi in the province of Chieti. He was buried there before being exhumed in February 1945 and reburied in the Moro River cemetery in Ortona.

MORO RIVER CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY Italy
The Moro River Canadian War Cemetery lies in the locality of San Donato in the Commune of Ortona, Province of Chieti, and is sited on high ground near the sea just east of the main Adriatic coast road (SS16). The cemetery can be reached from Rome on the autostrada A25 (Rome-Pescara) by branching on the autostrada A14 and leaving it at Ortona. The approach road to the cemetery from the main road passes under an arch forming part of the little church of San Donato. The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited anytime.
