Matkin, Frederick Joseph - Flight Sergeant. Born 19th November, 1915, at Morse, Sask. Educated at Shellbrook and Leader, Sask. Entered the service of the Bank 13th November, 1934. Served at Saskatoon and branches in Manitoba. Enlisted in September, 1939, from Flin Flon, Man. Called to active service in R.C.A.F. 21st June, 1940. Sergeant Pilot in November, 1940; Flight Sergeant 1st September, 1941. Trained at Regina, Sask., Edmonton, Alta., Mossbank, Sask.; and Rivers, Man. Overseas in 1940. Reported 7th September, 1941 killed after air operations, during his thirteenth flight over enemy territory. Buried in Garrison Cemetery, Kiel, Germany. His Squadron Leader wrote that he carried out his duties with efficiency and courage, and that he was a navigator in whom his pilot had every confidence. (Flight Sergeant Matkin was a son of Mr. F.
