Photo and obituary of John Campbell
Rifleman Campbell joined The Queen's Own Rifles in 1943 in England. He was in Dog Company and one of those captured at Le Mesnil Patry on 11 June 44. Rifleman Campbell, along with five other QOR riflemen who were wounded, were taken to another location and executed around 17 June by the 12 SS Panzer troops. -

37 Canadian Place
The town of Authie, France honoured 37 Canadian soldiers by naming a street after them. The young Canadians, mostly from the Maritimes, were part of the D-Day invasion and were killed while trying to liberate the town from the Germans. -
