Serving with the RCAMC was Corporal George Hedley Wolfendale, a priest of the Church of England who had enlisted at the outbreak of war. At the time of the bombing of All Saints Church in Merstham, England and the resulting injuries to the vicar, he took over and saw that life and worship of the church continued. He would never forget the parishioners of South Merstham, and how his engineering connections enabled him to realise the dream of giving them a new church. -

BOLOGNA WAR CEMETERY Italy
The BOLOGNA WAR CEMETERY lies in the rural locality of San Lazzaro (Parco dei Cedri) in the Commune and Province of Bologna. It stands on the north side of the main road between Bologna and Forli (Route No.9), at Via Dozza, about 5 kilometres south-east of the town and about 200 metres before the road crosses over the River Savena.
The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited outside the working hours of the local gardening staff, but will be unmanned.
The local gardening staff working hours are as follows:
From first Monday in April:
Monday to Thursday: 07.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.45
Friday: 07.30 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.30
From first Monday in October:
Monday to Thursday: 08.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 16.00
Friday: 08.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.00
