Larocque enlisted with the Royal Canadian Quartermaster Corps at No. 3 Military District Depot in Ottawa. He departed for Great Britain on 12 March 1942, arriving at Gourock, Scotland, on 23 March. Between 9 January and 14 May 1943, he was hospitalized due to illness.
In September 1944, he was posted to Force M in the Mediterranean, departing on 28 September and arriving in Italy on 8 October. He subsequently came under Canadian Infantry command. On 4 December, he was transferred to the 4th Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, joining the unit on 12 December.
He was killed in action on 15 December 1944 during an assault on the Fosso Vetro Canal, between the Lamone and Bagnacavallo Rivers. He was initially buried in the regiment's cemetery northwest of Russi, on the road to Ravenna, in Grave 25. Around 31 January 1945, his remains were exhumed and reinterred in the Canadian War Cemetery at Villanova di Bagnacavallo, west of Ravenna.
