Rifleman Newton enlisted in The Queen's Own Rifles in June 1940 when the Regiment was mobilized. He served in Newfoundland, New Brunswick and in England. Rifleman Newton was in Baker Company, one of the first wave assault companies and was killed at Bernières-sur-mer. -
