Son of George Horatio Hannant and Louisa Hannant (née Horner), of Victoria, British Columbia. Brother of Kathleen, Joyce, Gladys, and Patricia. Radio Officer Hannant moved to British Columbia at the age of 22. He joined the Air Force and began training as a radio operator on bomber planes. He was stationed in the Bahamas for the training period. The bombers were built in North America and then flown to Scotland. The radio operators were then flown back to wait another trip. On his second trip back, the plane he was on was sabotaged. He died while serving his country.
