His full name is Joseph Hercule Eric Bazinet.

Son of Phidime Bazinet and Marie Sophie Gratton of Cornwall, Ontario.

She was on the St. John's, Newfoundland - Halifax, Nova Scotia, route when on January 4, 1945, at 5:00 p.m., while sailing with convoy SH-194 from Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to Halifax, she was hit by a torpedo launched from U-1232 4 miles (6.5 km) off Halifax, position 44°30'N/63°00'W. Her bow was blown off, but the ship remained afloat. Two sailors were killed. The wreck was towed to Pictou, Nova Scotia, and repaired.
