Son of Alexander John Campbell and Isabella Travers, of St. Thomas. Husband of Jean Kirkwood, of St. Thomas. Father of Alexander Edward, Walter Dougald, Phyllis Marie and Patricia Jean Campbell.

Sergeant Campbell was employed as a civilian training instructor under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) at 3rd Elementary Flying Training School in London, Ontario. He died on 2 November 1941, a result of injuries sustained in flying accident on 30 October 1940.
