Son of Francis Walter Allen and Emily Fanny Kirke. Husband of Minnie Eva Russell, of Québec, Québec. Father of William John Allen. Brother of a soldier killed in action during the First World War. His father-in-law, Charles Henry Russell, was a Corporal with the 2nd Canadian Labour Battalion, CEF, during the Great War. The second husband of his widow, Norman Lawrence Riley, served overseas during the Second World War and survived the conflict.
William Harold served in Québec, in New Brunswick, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C, in Japan as prisoner of war. He had 1,269 days of service, including 814 overseas.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY Japan
YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
