Son of Ezer Darby Grainger and Ann Larger, of Beulah, Manitoba.

Served in Manitoba, Bermuda with Force B, Jamaica with Force Y, Hong Kong with Force C, Japan as a prisoner of war. He had 1,887 days of service, including 1,123 overseas.

To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Grainger Lake located north of Molson Lake in his honor in 1973.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY Japan

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
