He learned to fly at the London Flying Club at the Lambeth Airfield. Enlisted June 1940, won his Pilot's Wings, and transferred to the #99 RAF Squadron in the United Kingdom and flew missions over Europe. Posted to the Middle East and died when his Wellington bomber ran out of fueld and crashed.

HELIOPOLIS WAR CEMETERY Egypt
Heliopolis, a major suburb of Cairo, lies 10 kilometres to the north-east of the main city centre, approximately 6 kilometres from the airport.
The HELIOPOLIS WAR CEMETERY is situated opposite El Banat (Girls) College in Nabil el Wakkard Street, and access is from this street.
