Additional information
Son of Stanley Howard Hutchison and Edythe McLean Boyd of Westmount, Montréal, Québec. During the First World War, Stanley served as a gunner, regimental number 2152314, from 8 January 1917 to 2 May 1919. He fought in France with the 6th Canadian Siege Battery of the Canadian Field Artillery of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

A member of convoy SC-48, the Vancouver Island was torpedoed at 22:49 on 15 October 1941 and sank quickly at 11:17 pm West of Ireland, position 53°37'N/25°37'W.
