Son of Arthur Norbert Barsalo and Mary Ann Dooner from Verdun, today Montréal, Québec.
Transferred to Italy with the 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment on 14 May 1944, he was killed in action on the 19th during an assault on the Hitler Line in the Liri Valley, Italy. He was buried by the roadside on the 20th and was exhumed and returned to Cassino Cemetery, Italy.
