Leading Aircraftman JOHN CAREY GARDNER, Pilot Officer JAMES OLIVER CHRISTIE, Leading Aircraftman JOSEPH JACQUES ARMAND ROY and Flying Officer STEWART ALEXANDER COFFIN were reported to have been Killed on Active Service in Canada in the Department of National Defense for Air Casualty List No 857 of the Royal Canadian Air Force published in the Globe and Mail on April 15, 1944. Gardner, Christie and Roy died on April 3, 1944 and Coffin died on April 2, 1944, perhaps under the same circumstances.
