Son of Dougald or Dugal McKillop and Jessie Watson, of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Served with the Manitoba Mounted Rifles - NPAM - regimental number 2500, as a Second Lieutenant from January 8th, 1940 until he joined the regular forces of the 1st Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers on July 1st, 1941 to fight in Hong Kong with C Force as a Lieutenant.
To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named McKillop Lake located northeast of Paint Lake in his honor in 1961.
