Brother of Driver Clayton Wilfred Pomeroy, who died while serving with the Canadian Field Artillery in the First World War.

George enlisted to company A, 1st Battalion, Midland Regiment. He served in Ontario, was deployed on 19 October 1941 to the 1st Battalion, Royal Rifles of Canada and was added to Force C to serve in Hong Kong. He had 756 days of service, including 309 overseas.
