Son of Edmond Bacquet dit Lamontagne and Anna Rose Legendre of Lévis, Quebec. Edmond was conscripted into the Canadian army on 29 May 1918 in Quebec City and enlisted the same day, service number 3281390. For medical reasons, he was discharged on 14 June 1918 and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, regimental number 182737. He claimed to be a pilot on the St Lawrence. There is no indication that he took part in the conflict.
At 0:15 am on 29 October 1942, the Bic Island was torpedoed and sunk by U-224 southwest of Rockall, an isolated rock between Ireland and Iceland, position 55°05'N/23°27'W.
