Additional information
On 12 February 1941, at 6.18 am, the German battlecruiser Admiral Hipper opened fire on convoy SLS-64, which had just joined HX-53, 800 miles (1,288 km) west of Gibraltar, off Sao Miguel, Azores, sinking seven ships, including the Oswestry Grange, position 37°10'N/21°20'W. The attack claimed the lives of five of the 42 crew members. The survivors were rescued by the SS Lornasion.
