Additional information
On 26 November 1942, at 7:17 pm, the Barberrys, flagship of convoy SC-110, was torpedoed by U-663 north-east of St. John's, Newfoundland, position 50°36'N/47°10'W. The captain, the convoy commander, 20 crew members, 4 gunners and 5 members of the naval staff lost their lives. The 18 surviving crew members, 3 gunners and one naval staff member were recovered by the US Coast Guard Ship USCGC Mohawk (WPG-78) and landed in St. John's.
