Baptized Joseph Évangéliste Lambert. Son of Joseph Lambert and Marie Geneviève Bourget, of Grande-Rivière, Gaspésie, Québec. Brother of Private Hector Lambert.

Enlisted with the Québec Voltigeurs at Camp Valcartier, located north of Québec City, on July 21, 1943, he embarked for Great Britain and landed on the 27th in Greenock, Scotland. Assigned to the M Force theater of operations in the Mediterranean on October 27, he departed for Italy, where he arrived on November 9, 1943. He was then transferred to the 4th Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment and took part in the fighting at Ortona. He was killed in action on December 15, 1944, during an assault on the Fosso Vetro Canal, between the Lamone and Bagnacavallo rivers. He was buried on the 22nd along the road northwest of Russi. Around January 31, 1945, his remains were exhumed and reburied in Ravenna.
