His full name is Thomas Michael Reid.

Son of John Sylvester Reid and Ellen McDonald from Douglastown, New Brunswick.

On 25 December 1939, at 8:34 am, the Stanholme hit a mine laid by U-33 and sank off Foreland Point in the Bristol Channel, England, position 51°20'N/03°39'W. Of her crew, 13 sailors lost their lives. The captain and 11 crew members were rescued by the Norwegian cargo ship Liv, which landed them in Cardiff, Wales.
