His full name is Albert William Tappin.

Son of Albert Henry and Mabel Tappin from Kensington, London, England. Brother of Catherine Hester of Vancouver, British Columbia.

On 16 October 1942, the Castle Harbour en route from Port of Spain, Trinidad, to Recife, Brazil, with convoy TRIN-19, is torpedoed at 9:20 pm by U-160. The ship sank in less than 20 seconds after being receiving another one 30 seconds later in position 11°00’N/61°10’W. Nine crew members lost their lives. The captain and 13 other crew members were rescued by the US sub-chaser USS SC-53 which landed them in Port of Spain.
