Additional information
Son of Dr. William John Wallace and Ruby Ethel Anderson of Cardinal, Ontario. Brother of Private Lloyd Albion Wallace, who fought in Europe during the Second World War and survived.

On 29 March 1942, the SS Bateau, a member of convoy PQ-13, was shot and torpedoed by the German destroyer Z-26 in the Barents Sea, while en route from Iceland to Murmansk, USSR. Of the crew of 46 sailors, 40 lost their lives. The six survivors were rescued by HMS Eclipse (H08) and landed in Murmansk.
