Son of George Edwin Walsby and Mary Cramer from Kamloops, British Columbia.

Early on 20 July 1943, the Fort Pelly was unloading munitions in the port of Augusta, Sicily, when she was targeted, bombed and sunk by German Ju-88 aircraft of the III/KG54. The cargo exploded, killing 40 men.
