Burial/memorial information
On 8 March 1941, the Dunaff Head was en route from Glasgow, Scotland, to St John, New Brunswick, with convoy OB-293 when she was torpedoed at 1.19 am by the German submarine U-A and sunk south of Iceland, in position 60°33'N/18°50'W. Five sailors lost their lives. The captain, 34 crew members and 4 gunners were rescued by HMS Verity (D63) and landed at Loch Ewe, Scotland.
