Additional information
Cpl. Larsen was born in Varde, Denmark and came to Canada when he was 13 years old. Cpl. Larsen served in Ontario and in Saskatchewan. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and designing and remodeling rooms in his house. He was studying towards his degree at the University of Regina. Keith Allyn Sipley wanted Cpl. Larsen to follow him downtown so he enticed Cpl. Larsen out of his house by repeatedly doing screeching power turns with his car in front of Cpl. Larsen’s home (Sipley was the only occupant of the vehicle). Cpl. Larsen came outside without a uniform or duty belt on and got in his police car. When Sipley pulled over, he shot Cpl. Larsen as he approached Sipley’s car. Sipley escaped to Montana where he committed suicide. Cpl. Larsen was married to Lindsey and they had two daughters: Karen and Kirsten. He is buried at Depot. A “Corporal Ole R. Larsen Memorial Scholarship” was set up at the University of Regina in his honour.
