S/Cst. Kent was a First World War veteran. He was hired during the Second World War as a Special Constable to guard vital domestic installations. S/Cst. Kent’s role was to guard Bridge No. 4 on the Welland Ship Canal. He died of injuries received when struck by an automobile while proceeding off duty on the Welland Ship Canal Bridge, St. Catharines, Ontario. S/Cst. Kent was only married eight months when he died. He is buried in Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines, Ontario.
