Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Constable Fitzgerald was from Nova Scotia and was previously a printer. In 1901 he narrowly escaped drowning with Constables Heathcote and Campbell on the Stikine River, Yukon. Constable Fitzgerald drowned en route to a new posting near the Shushana Gold Fields, near the head of the White River, Yukon Territory.
