The Norwegian motor vessel Hoegh Silverdawn, en route from Fremantle, Australia, to Basra, Iraq, with a military cargo, was bombed and torpedhawkinsoed by the German privateer Michel and sunk south-east of the Cocos Islands, Keeling, in the Indian Ocean, position 25°40’S/92°00’E.
