Additional information
On 28 November 1939, the Rubislaw hit a German mine 1.5 nautical miles (1.5 miles/2.8 km) east of the Tongue lighthouse off the British coast, killing 13 sailors, including the captain. The only survivors, four injured, were rescued by a Royal Navy minesweeper and transferred to the rescue ship The Lord Southborough. They were disembarked in Margate, Kent, England.
