Additional information
On 27 August 1941, the Tremoda was en route from London, England, to Dualo, Cameroon, with convoy OS-4 when she was torpedoed by U-557 at 2:05 am west of the Achill Islands in the west of Ireland, position 53°36'N/18°40'W. She was last seen drifting in position 54°08'N/15°28'W. The captain, 25 crew members and 6 gunners lost their lives. Twenty sailors and one gunner were rescued by the free French frigate FFL Chevreuil and landed in Kingston, Jamaica.
