His full name is Edward Nathan Young.

Son of James Young and Elizabeth Butler from Quidi Vidi, St. John’s, Newfoundland. Husband of Eva Haynes from Quidi Vidi. Father of Loretta, Frederick and Francis James Young.

The logbook of U-552 indicates that one of the three torpedoes hit the stern of the Nerissa at 0027 hours on 1 May 1941 and sinks south-east of Rockall, position 55°57'N/10°08'W. There were 91 survivors disembarked in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, by HMS Kingcup (K33) of the Royal Navy after being rescued by HMS Veteran (D72).
