Photo courtesy of Frans van Cappellen, Putten, The Netherlands.<P> Halifax aircraft HR-905 which was airborne 2315 13Jul43 from Gransden Lodge. Shot down by a night-fighter and disintegrated near Asten (Noord Brabant), 9 km SE of Helmond, Holland. Burials were held at the temporary military cemetery at Venlo. Their graves are now located in Jonkerbos War Cemetery. S/L D. L. Wolfe, DFC, joined the RAF prior to the outbreak of war. He had been a flight commander with 419 Sqdn and was on his second tour of operations. Sgt Bebensee RCAF had previously served on No.35 Sqdn, his DFM being Gazetted 11Jun43. That for F/S Emerson was Gazetted 28Jul44. Sgt D.G.Bebensee DFM RCAF KIA F/O R.G.Morrison DFC; Sgt E.M.Witt; F/O G.G.McGladrey DFC; F/S T.H.N.Emerson DFM. Two crew were taken PoW: F/O D.M.Clarke, RCAF, was interned in Camp L3. No.6474 with F/O D.J.Smith, RNZAF, PoW No.6291. (Source: //lostbombers.co.uk) -
