Keith Coates was born January 27, 1913, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Coates of 329 Wortley Road, London, Ontario. He attended Wortley Road Public School, South Collegiate and was studying to be a doctor at the University of Western Ontario Medical School when war commenced. He enlisted in the Air Force in June 1940, earned his observer wing and was posted to England in February 1941. He was the navigator in a Wellington bomber of #9 RAF Squadron on the night of July 8, 1941, when it was shot down over Veno Holland. -
